Phillips, Price Named CCIW Baseball Players of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Bryan Phillips of Augustana and Matt Price of Wheaton were named baseball players of the week in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Tuesday after their performances during the previous week of competition.

Phillips, a senior third baseman from Machesney Park, Ill., batted .615 in three games last week. He had eight hits in 13 at-bats with three runs scored, six RBI, one double, one walk and one sacrifice fly. He was two for four in a 10-1 non-conference victory over Loras on March 29 and in the CCIW opening doubleheader against Elmhurst he collected six hits in nine at-bats with three runs scored, five RBI and one double.

Price, a junior from Corpus Christi, Texas, pitched 6-1/3 shutout innings on Saturday, leading Wheaton to a 2-0 win at Illinois Wesleyan. Price guided his team to the first victory by the Thunder baseball program against Illinois Wesleyan since 1999. The southpaw did not allow a run, scattering four hits and striking out eight Titan batters.
