Pignatiello, Setter Named CCIW Baseball Players of the Week
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Geoff Pignatiello of North Central and Andrew Setter of Augustana were named baseball players of the week in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Tuesday after their performances during the previous week of competition.
Pignatiello, a senior from Tinley Park, Ill., hit .353 in four games as North Central wrapped up its spring trip in Arizona last week. Pignatiello had six hits in 17 at-bats with one run, one double and five RBI. He went 3 for 5 with three RBI in the Cardinals’ 9-5 win over the defending NCAA Division III national champions, UW-Whitewater.
Setter, a senior from Loves Park, Ill., moved his record to 3-0 with a nine-inning, complete game shutout of 28th ranked Monmouth College on Saturday, March 25 at Swanson Stadium/Brunner Field in Moline, Ill. The Vikings won the game 2-0 and Setter was superb as he allowed just six hits while striking out four and walking two. He allowed just two runners to reach third base and he retired 12 of the last 13 batters he faced.
