Fear, Mensch Named CCIW Baseball Players of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – George Fear of Millikin and Bob Mensch of North Park were named baseball players of the week in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Tuesday after their performances during the previous week of competition.

Fear, a junior catcher/infielder from Alsip, Ill., hit .533 in four games last week (8-of-15) with three runs scored, four doubles, one homerun and nine RBI. In an 11-1 win over MacMurray, he was 2-for-5 with three RBI and a double. In a 15-8 win over MacMurray he was 3-for-4 with two runs scored, two RBI, a double and a homerun. In a 5-1 loss to Aurora, he was 2-for-4 with a double. In an 11-9 loss to Lakeland he was 1-for-2 with three RBI and a double.

Mensch, a junior pitcher from Evanston, Ill., had four appearances on the week, giving up no earned runs, four strikeouts and one save in 4 1/3 innings of work. He finished with an ERA of 0.00 on the week and on the year so far.
