2003 CCIW BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

ROCK ISLAND, Illinois – Brad Groth of Elmhurst and Jed Thompson of Wheaton shared the "Batter of the Week" award in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin for the week ending May 4. Dusty Reid of Carthage, Steve Brook of Illinois Wesleyan and Rob Daggett of Elmhurst were the winners of the "Pitcher of the Week".Thompson batted .412 with seven hits in 17 at-bats as he helped the Thunder to a 3-1 record. He had a pair of doubles, three walks and two stolen bases while scoring five runs and driving in four. In a 10-9 win over Concordia Thompson was three for four with two doubles, two runs scored and two RBI.Groth batted .429 with six hits in 14 at-bats with six RBI while scoring five runs and stealing three bases. He drove in two runs in Elmhurst’s win over Aurora and added an ERBI in a 7-1 win over Millikin. In the final game of the Millikin series he went three for four with three runs scored, three RBI and two stolen bases.Daggett went to 6-0 on the season with a complete game victory over Millikin on May 3. He scattered four hits and walked just one while striking out four.Reid allowed just two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out 11 in a 5-2 nine inning victory over North Central on May 3.

Brook shut out Augustana 4-0 on May 2, allowing just three hits (all in the same inning) while striking out eight and walking none. His nine inning outing took just one hour and 51 minutes and he faced just 30 batters.
