Augustana’s Voiland Selected to Represent CCIW as NCAA Woman of the Year Nominee

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) has selected Meghan Voiland from Augustana College to represent the conference in the 2007 NCAA Woman of the Year award.

The NCAA Woman of the Year award honors senior female student-athletes who have distinguished themselves throughout their collegiate careers in the areas of academic achievement, athletics excellence, service and leadership.

Voiland (Yorkville, Ill./H.S.) finished her track and field career winning the NCAA Division III national championship in the pole vault on May 25 in Oshkosh, Wis., clearing a height of 12-10 1/4. She was also third in the triple jump with a leap of 39-8 to earn all-America honors. She ended her career with nine NCAA Division III All-America honors. In addition, Voiland earned an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship, was Augustana’s Most Outstanding Senior Athlete, and was the winner of the Jack Swartz Academic All-Conference award from the CCIW. She graduated in May with a degree in biology/pre-physical therapy.

Voiland’s nomination will be forwarded to the NCAA Woman of the Year selection committee, which will select the top 10 winners in each of the three divisions of the NCAA. From among those 30 honorees, the selection committee will determine the top three in each division. Finally, the members of the Committee on Women’s Athletics will vote from among the top nine to determine the 2007 NCAA Woman of the Year. The top three honorees from Divisions I, II and III will be honored, and the 2007 NCAA Woman of the Year will be announced at a dinner in Indianapolis October 27, 2007.
