Two CCIW Schools Top Academic All-America List
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – According to statistics kept by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), two College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) schools are among the top 20 on the all-time list of Academic All-Americans, including this past academic calendar year.
Augustana, with 114 Academic All-Americans, was tied for fourth with NCAA Division I Penn State. Illinois Wesleyan currently sits in seventh with 102. Division I Nebraska was first all-time with 222, while Division I Notre Dame was second with 162. Both Augustana and Illinois Wesleyan were two of only eight schools with over 100 Academic All-Americans in its school’s history.
CoSIDA currently names Academic All-America teams in football, volleyball, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, softball, baseball, men’s cross country/track & field, women’s cross country/track & field, men’s at-large and women’s at-large. The organization has been sponsoring an Academic All-America team since 1952.
