NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- North Central's
Michael Mateja and
Mike Wisz were selected to the 2018 D3baseball.com All-America Team on Thursday, marking the fourth-straight year that the Cardinals have been represented on this team.
Mateja, a junior third baseman from Bourbonnais, Illinois and Bradley-Bourbonnais High School, was named to the Second Team as he batted .444 (72-for-162) with 54 runs, 20 doubles, four triples, four home runs, 38 RBIs and a .691 slugging percentage this past season. Mateja is just the third Cardinal in program history to receive multiple all-America honors, joining Ken Ritter and Nick Sotiros.
Wisz, a sophomore outfielder from Woodridge, Illinois and Lemont Township High School, was also named to the Second Team as he batted .408 (73-for-179) with 46 runs, 21 doubles, three triples, nine home runs, 73 RBIs and a .709 slugging percentage this past season. Additionally, Wisz was selected as the 2018 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Newcomer of the Year.
Mateja and Wisz were named the 2018 CCIW Player of the Year while helping lead the Cardinals to a fourth-straight CCIW regular season title. North Central also won a second-straight CCIW Tournament title and made a third-straight appearance in the NCAA Division III Baseball Championship.

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was founded in 1946 and currently services nine member institutions including Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), Carroll University (Waukesha, WI), Carthage College (Kenosha, WI), Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL), Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, IL), Millikin University (Decatur, IL), North Central College (Naperville, IL), North Park University (Chicago, IL) and Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL). During the 2016-17 academic year, the CCIW honored over 1,900 academic all-conference recipients, 10 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 33 CoSIDA Academic All-District recipients, one CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year and over 100 all-Americans.
