2018 CCIW Diving Championship Recap

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Four meet records were established during the diving portion of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Swimming & Diving Championships on Saturday at Illinois Wesleyan’s Fort Natatorium.
 
Scores from Saturday’s diving event will be incorporated into the swimming portion of the CCIW Championships, which begins Thursday, February 15 and ends Saturday, February 17. This will mark the fifth-straight year that the swimming championship will be held at the Pleasant Prairie RecPlex in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin.
 
On the women’s side, Carroll freshman Ally Osell (Oak Creek, Wis./H.S.) claimed titles in both the one-meter (444.65) and three-meter (467.35) events as her scores established new meet records. Carthage freshman Trisha Garcia (Burr Ridge, Ill./Downers Grove South) was second in both events as she finished with a score of 421.35 on the one-meter board and 410.65 on the three-meter board. All of Osell’s and Garcia’s scores were regional qualifiers.
 
On the men’s side, Carthage sophomore Connor Pierson (Kenosha, Wis./Tremper) won the one-meter with a meet record score of 463.75. Teammate Aaron San Juan (Novi, Mich./Walled Lake Western) was second with a score of 450.85. Both Pierson’s and San Juan’s scores were regional qualifiers. San Juan established a new meet record in the three-meter event with a score of 481.90, which was also a regional qualifier.

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was founded in 1946 and currently services nine member institutions including Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), Carroll University (Waukesha, WI), Carthage College (Kenosha, WI), Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL), Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, IL), Millikin University (Decatur, IL), North Central College (Naperville, IL), North Park University (Chicago, IL) and Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL). During the 2016-17 academic year, the CCIW honored over 1,900 academic all-conference recipients, 10 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 33 CoSIDA Academic All-District recipients, one CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year and over 100 all-Americans.
