NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Park’s
Emily McIntyre and North Central’s
Gretchen Frantz were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Soccer Players of the Week on September 19.
McIntyre, a junior midfielder from Salt Lake City, Utah and Waterford High School (Nursing major), totaled three goals and two assists for the 3-0-0 Vikings last week. She finished with one assist in a 3-0 shutout of Blackburn on September 15, one goal and one assist in a 6-1 win over Alverno on September 17, and two goals in a 3-0 shutout of Illinois College on September 18. North Park is currently 6-2-0, its best start since the 2005 season.
Frantz, a sophomore goalkeeper from Newtown, Pennsylvania and Villa Joseph Marie High School (Exercise Science major), played all 110 minutes of a 1-1 tie against previously undefeated Coe on September 17. She stopped five Kohawk shots including one in the second overtime. Coe came into the contest with a 7-0-0 overall record. Earlier in the week, she played 45 minutes and gave up no goals in a 3-1 win over the Illinois Institute of Technology.
