NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s
Madison Maas and Illinois Wesleyan’s
Mariah Smith were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Lacrosse Players of the Week on Monday.
Maas, a senior attacker from Burnsville, Minnesota and Burnsville High School (Marketing/International Business major), helped lead the Cardinals to a 2-0 record last week as she totaled five goals, two assists and five ground balls. She finished with two goals, one assist and three ground balls in a 7-4 season-opening win at Aurora on March 1, followed by three goals, one assist and two ground balls in a 20-1 win over Beloit in the home opener on March 4.
Smith, a junior defender/midfielder from Frankfort, Illinois and Lincoln-Way East High School (Psychology major), was part of a Titan defense that held Benedictine to just seven total shots in a 19-3 win at Benedictine on March 4. She finished with three ground balls, three draw controls and one caused turnover against the Eagles.
