NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Illinois Wesleyan’s
Michael Julius and North Central’s
John Fitzgerald were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Lacrosse Players of the Week on Monday.
Julius, a senior attacker from Arlington Heights, Illinois and St. Viator High School (Business major), totaled six goals and five assists for the 1-1 Titans last week. He finished with a goal and an assist in a 13-10 loss at Connecticut College on Wednesday and followed with a team high seven points with five goals and two assists in a 17-15 win at John Carroll on Friday.
Fitzgerald, a freshman defender from Winfield, Illinois and West Chicago High School (Exercise Science major), helped lead the Cardinals to a pair of wins last week to move their record to 5-0 on the season. He finished with one ground ball and one caused turnover in a 13-6 win over Alfred State on Friday, followed by five ground balls and three caused turnovers in an 8-7 win at Greensboro on Sunday. Fitzgerald and the North Central defense held Alfred to a 10-for-18 effort on clears, while Greensboro was 18-for-29 on clears.
