NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s
Zach Hird and Augustana’s
Marckus Simmons were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.
Hird, a junior from Rock Island, Illinois and Alleman High School (Accounting major), won the indoor mile at the Olivet Nazarene Invitational on Saturday with a personal best time of 4:12.88. His time currently ranks first in the CCIW and sixth on the NCAA Division III national list as compiled by TFRRS.org.
Simmons, a senior from Westmont, Illinois and Downers Grove North High School (Biology major), won the 35-pound weight throw at the Olivet Nazarene Invitational. He accomplished a season-best throw of 58-7 ½ (17.87 meters), which was also a personal record. His mark currently ranks first in the CCIW and eighth on the national list.
