CHICAGO -- For the first time since 2010 and fourth time in program history, North Park claimed the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Soccer Tournament title with a 4-0 win over Carthage on Saturday.
With the victory, the Vikings won the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship. The full bracket will be announced at 12:30 p.m. CST on Monday, November 6 via an
NCAA.com Selection Show.
This will be North Park's sixth trip to the NCAA postseason and first since 2014. The Vikings advanced as far as the second round in 2010, 2011 and 2012. All six NCAA appearances have come under the direction of head coach John Born.
On Saturday,
Gustav Ericsson scored the game's first goal off a rebound from his own penalty kick in the eighth minute. He later assisted
Peder Olsen's goal in the 70th minute that put the Vikings up 3-0.
Shatil Khoury and
Erlend Kemkers each had a goal apiece for North Park.
