NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Wheaton’s
Ricky Samuelson was selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Basketball Player of the Week on Monday.
Samuelson, a senior guard from Northfield, Illinois and New Trier High School (Business/Economics major), averaged 31.5 points and shot 87 percent from the field for the 2-0 Thunder last week. He scored a career-high 34 points on 12-of-15 shooting from the field including 8-of-9 from three-point range during a season-opening 80-59 win over DePauw on Friday. He scored 29 points, shot 10-of-11 from the field and 3-of-3 from three-point range in a 75-74 win over Baldwin Wallace on Saturday as Samuelson knocked down a post-up basket and the ensuring free throw with nine seconds left in regulation. He was named MVP of Wheaton’s Lee Pfund Classic.
