North Central's Binion wins second CCIW Wrestler of the Week honor of 2016-17 season

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s Layten Binion won his second College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Wrestler of the Week honor of the 2016-17 season on Tuesday.
 
Binion, a senior from Mishawaka, Indiana and Mishawaka High School (Exercise Science major), won the 141-pound bracket at Wheaton’s Pete Willson Invitational on Saturday, going 5-0 over the two-day event. Competing as the No. 2 seed, he pinned Adrian’s Kyle Briggs, followed by a 4-3 decision over Augustana’s Freddy Terranova. He ended the first day with a 7-4 decision over Chicago’s Grant Morrison, and then dominated John Carroll’s Sal Corrao with a 19-0 technical fall in Saturday’s semifinal. He won the title with a 7-3 decision over No. 5 seed Ronnie Hauser from Elmhurst.
