Nolan McKenna and
Luke Winder were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.
McKenna, a sophomore from Wheaton, Illinois and Wheaton-Warrenville South High School (Physical Education major), won the 3,000-meter run at Grand Valley State’s Bob Eubanks Open on Friday. His time of 8:27.54 was a personal best and his converted time of 8:33.43 ranks second on the NCAA Division III national list. The Cardinals finished second in the 11-team event.
Winder, a junior from Joliet, Illinois and Plainfield Central High School (Exercise Science major), was named the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Men’s Field Athlete of the Week for his performance at the Bob Eubanks Open. He won the pole vault with a height of 17-4 ½ (5.30 meters), winning the event by nearly two feet. His height is currently ranked No. 1 in Division III.
