NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Park’s T.D. Conway, Elmhurst’s Sean Wetherell and Augustana’s Robert Martin were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Football Players of the Week for September 6.
 
Conway, a senior quarterback from California, Pennsylvania and California High School (Sport Management major), completed 37-of-62 passes for a career-high 508 yards and three touchdowns in a 41-13 season-opening win over Anderson at home on Saturday. His 37 completions tied the North Park record, which Conway set as a freshman, and he became the school’s all-time career leader in passing touchdowns with 56.
 
Wetherell, a senior safety from Rock Island, Illinois and Rock Island Alleman High School (Marketing major), totaled a game-high 15 tackles (eight solo), one tackle-for-loss and an interception during the Bluejays’ 28-27 win at Loras on Saturday. Elmhurst scored 19 points in the fourth quarter including Wetherell’s 80-yard interception return for a touchdown to bring the Bluejays to within six points. He also finished with a fumble recovery that led to the go-ahead scoring drive. The Bluejay defense forced five turnovers as Wetherell accounted for two of his team’s three in the fourth quarter. He was also named to the D3football.com Team of the Week for his performance against the Duhawks.
 
Martin, a senior punter from Houston, Texas and Strake Jesuit High School (Geology major), finished with six punts for 260 yards (43.3-yard average) during the Vikings’ 21-10 win over Mount St. Joseph on Saturday. Seeing his first action as the regular punter in his career, Martin pinned the Lions inside their own 20-yard line three times and had a long punt of 50 yards.
