North Central's Renfro, Carthage's Slowek named CCIW Women's Track & Field Athletes of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s Madison Renfro and Carthage’s Elanta Slowek were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Track & Field Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.
 
Renfro, a senior from Moweaqua, Illinois and Central A&M High School (Elementary Education major), won the 100-meter hurdles at the Chicagoland Outdoor Championships at the College of DuPage on Saturday. She recorded the nation’s fastest time (14.16) in NCAA Division III and won the event by 1.34 seconds in 31 degree temperatures. She also placed third in the 100-meter dash (12.77).
 
Slowek, a sophomore from Park Ridge, Illinois and Maine East High School (Marketing major), won both the discus and the javelin at the Wisconsin Private College Championships on Saturday at Carroll University. Her discus mark of 48.09 meters (157-9) ranks first nationally, while her javelin mark of 34.37 meters ranks third in the CCIW.

During the 2014-15 academic year, the CCIW honored over 1,500 academic all-conference recipients, 19 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 46 CoSIDA Academic All-District recipients and 102 all-Americans.
