NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) announced the recipients of the 24-member 2016 All-Conference Men’s Soccer Team on Tuesday.

The all-conference team, which was chosen by the CCIW’s head men’s soccer coaches, featured a first team of 12 student-athletes and a second team of 12 student-athletes representing eight CCIW institutions.

In addition to the all-conference honors, Carthage senior forward Austin Bitta (Libertyville, Ill./H.S.) was named the CCIW Player of the Year, becoming only the third Red Men in conference history to win the CCIW’s top men’s soccer honor. Previous winners included Mike Domin in 1997 and Zak Khoshbin in 2011.

Carthage’s Steve Domin won his fourth Joe Bean Coach of the Year honor and first since 2011 after leading the Red Men to a CCIW regular season title with a perfect 8-0-0 record, as well as a CCIW Tournament title that earned Carthage the automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer Championship.

Carthage sophomore midfielder Adrian Herrera (Palatine, Ill./Buffalo Grove), a first-year transfer from Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, was named the CCIW Newcomer of the Year. Herrera is the third Red Men to win this award, joining Ryan Crane in 2013 and Giles Phillips in 2015.
