NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Augustana’s
Michael Johnson and North Central’s
Luke Winder were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week on Wednesday.
Johnson, a freshman from Owensboro, Kentucky and Owensboro High School, won the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.53 at Dubuque’s Sol Butler Classic on Saturday. His time, converted to 7.02 in the 60-meter dash, is currently ranked first in the CCIW and 18th nationally. Johnson also led off the Vikings’ B 4x200-meter relay with a time of 23.2.
Winder, a sophomore from Joliet, Illinois and Plainfield Central High School (Exercise Science major), won the pole vault at Grand Valley State’s Bob Eubanks Open on Friday. He cleared a height of 17-0 ¾, which was nearly a foot above the rest of the competition. Winder, the defending Division III indoor national champion, has the top national mark so far this season.

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was founded in 1946 and currently services eight member institutions including Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), Carthage College (Kenosha, WI), Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL), Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, IL), Millikin University (Decatur, IL), North Central College (Naperville, IL), North Park University (Chicago, IL) and Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL). During the 2014-15 academic year, the CCIW honored over 1,500 academic all-conference recipients, 19 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 46 CoSIDA Academic All-District recipients and 102 all-Americans.
