NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Elmhurst’s
Brandon Kressner and North Central’s
Bryan Polowy were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Baseball Players of the Week on Tuesday.
Kressner, a sophomore infielder from Carol Stream, Illinois and Glenbard North High School (Physical Education major), posted a team-leading .579 batting average (11-for-19) with two doubles, seven RBI and a .684 slugging percentage for the 2-2 Bluejays last week. He finished 4-for-6 with two runs scored and three RBI in Elmhurst's 24-11 win over Lawrence. He added two hits, a run and an RBI in the Bluejays' loss to Lawrence. He collected a team-leading three hits and scored a run in the Bluejays' 7-2 win over Hamilton. He added two hits in the Bluejays' loss to Westminster.
Polowy, a junior pitcher from Carol Stream, Illinois and Glenbard North High School (Accounting major), posted his first career shutout and third complete game in a 4-0 shutout of Liberty League champion Union on March 21. He gave up just one hit and had two strikeouts and did not allow a hit for the first five innings.

During the 2013-14 academic year, the CCIW honored over 1,400 academic all-conference recipients, 14 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 33 CoSIDA Academic All-District recipients and 87 all-Americans.
