NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- North Central College head women's track and field coach and assistant women's cross country coach Kari Kluckhohn has been recognized with the Jimmy Carnes Distinguished Service Award from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The presentation was made Wednesday at the USTFCCCA's annual convention in San Antonio, Texas.

The award was instituted in 2007 and is presented to individuals who have gone above and beyond the call of duty in their service to the association and to the sports of cross country and track and field.

Kluckhohn is preparing for her 14th season as the Cardinals' head women's track and field coach. Since her arrival at the College, the program has produced six national champions and 74 All-Americans and has won nine conference championships. She earned 2007 and 2011 USTFCCCA Indoor Track and Field Midwest Region Coach of the Year accolades, and her coaching staff has been voted CCIW Coaching Staff of the Year eight times.

Her 2011 squad swept the CCIW indoor and outdoor conference championships, becoming the first women's team in CCIW history to earn a triple crown (cross country, indoor and outdoor track & field conference titles). The team placed seventh at the 2011 Outdoor National Championships, the Cardinals highest finish at the outdoor meet since 1997. North Central swept the CCIW indoor and outdoor track & field championships in 2013 and 2014 as well.

She served as an officer on the USTFCCCA's NCAA Division III Track & Field Executive Committee for eight years, including three years as its president.

North Central opens the 2016 season on Friday, Jan. 15, at the Grand Valley State University Mike Lints Alumni Open.
