Millikin's Sims named CCIW Men's Basketball Player of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Millikin’s TJ Sims was named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Basketball Player of the Week on Monday.

Sims, a sophomore guard from Bloomington, Illinois and Bloomington High School (Sport Management major), helped lead the Big Blue to a 2-1 record last week while averaging nearly 33 points per game. He scored 43 points on 10-of-16 shooting from the field and a 23-of-25 effort from the free throw line, along with two steals and six assists during a 115-113 win at Greenville on Saturday. He totaled 16 points, 5 rebounds and one assist in a 65-56 win over Westminster on Friday and had 39 points, 2 assists and a steal against Aurora last Wednesday. He was 12-of-12 from the free throw line against the Spartans, while his 23 free throws against Greenville broke the Millikin single-game record of 21 set in 1951. Sims missed his first two attempts, but made 23 in a row from that point.
