North Central's Tardy, Millikin's Williams named CCIW Co-Wrestlers of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s Josh Tardy and Millikin’s Chris Williams were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Co-Wrestlers of the Week on Tuesday.
 
Williams, a freshman from Bethalto, Illinois and Bethalto Civic Memorial High School (Sport Management major), won the 133-pound weight class at the Millikin Open on Saturday. He pinned Lincoln College’s Jaime Valdez at 2:15 in the quarterfinal, followed by a 10-2 major decision over Lincoln’s Ricky Stringfellow in the semifinal. Williams won the championship by a 16-5 major decision over unattached wrestler Clay Stine.
 
Tardy, a senior from Naperville, Illinois and Naperville Central High School (Sociology major), won the 157-pound bracket of the Elite Division at the Luther Open on Saturday. He beat Wartburg’s Brady Meyer by a 9-3 decision, followed by a 13-6 decision over UW-La Crosse’s Michael Murnane. He then defeated unattached wrestler Coltan Laganiere by fall at 6:53 in the semifinal, and then earned a 13-3 major decision in the championship against Rochester Community College’s Brett Bradford.
