Herrmann, Baker named CCIW Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Illinois Wesleyan’s Angela Herrmann and North Central’s Lina Baker were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.

Herrmann, a sophomore from Schaumburg, Illinois and Conant High School (Elementary Education major), was second in the 100-meter dash (12.11) and third in the 200-meter dash (25.14) at the Benedictine Eagle Invitational on Saturday. She also ran the second leg of the winning 4x100 relay (48.38) and split a time of 59.0 on the wining 4x400 relay (3:57.22). All four times currently lead the CCIW.

Baker, a junior from Cary, Illinois and Prairie Ridge High School (Exercise Science major), won the hammer throw at Lewis’ Chicagoland Championships over the weekend. Her throw of 53.55 meters (175-8), which was six meters better than the second place finisher. Her mark leads the CCIW and is second in the nation.

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was founded in 1946 and currently services eight member institutions including Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), Carthage College (Kenosha, WI), Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL), Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, IL), Millikin University (Decatur, IL), North Central College (Naperville, IL), North Park University (Chicago, IL) and Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL). During the 2012-13 academic year, the CCIW honored over 1,400 academic all-conference recipients, 15 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-Americans, 30 CoSIDA Academic All-District recipients, 68 all-Americans and one national championship team.
