NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Wheaton’s Johnny Peltz, North Central’s Michael Monterrubio and Illinois Wesleyan’s Artie Checchin were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Football Players of the Week on Monday.

Peltz, a sophomore quarterback from Wheaton, Illinois and Wheaton North High School (Communication major),won his second-straight offensive player of the week honor after he totaled 408 yards in a 56-20 win at Elmhurst on Saturday. He completed his first 13 pass attempts, finishing 18-of-22 for 289 yards and four touchdown passes. Peltz also rushed for 119 yards on 16 attempts and four touchdowns as he was part of all eight Wheaton touchdowns.

Monterrubio, a senior linebacker from Wheaton, Illinois and Wheaton-Warrenville South High School (Accounting major), had seven tackles (six solo), two tackles-for-loss, one sack and one interception during a 45-24 win over Illinois Wesleyan on November 1. He recorded one of three Cardinal interceptions, which led to the second of North Central’s three first quarter touchdowns.

Checchin, a junior receiver/kick returner from Arlington Heights, Illinois and Rolling Meadows High School (Business Finance major), had five kick returns for 99 yards (19.8 yard average) against North Central on Saturday. He also finished with four catches for 92 yards and a touchdown.
