NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s Peter Sorenson, Elmhurst’s Jake Garabedian and North Central’s Dom Zavaglia were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Football Players of the Week on Monday.

Sorenson, a senior wide receiver from Dunlap, Illinois and Dunlap High School (Accounting/Finance major), caught eight passes for a career-high 156 yards and two touchdowns during a 47-13 win over Millikin on Saturday. He also had a career-long 80-yard touchdown reception against the Big Blue and scored more than one touchdown in a game for the eighth time in his career. Sorenson moved to within one touchdown reception of the North Central career record (28).

Garabedian, a senior linebacker from Miami, Florida and Archbishop Carroll High School (Business Administration major), tallied nine tackles, a sack and a forced fumble during a 17-10 win over Augustana on Saturday. Elmhurst allowed only 10 points and limited the Vikings to 89 yards in the second half. The Bluejay defense allowed just one first down and surrendered only 32 yards over Augustana’s final six offensive possessions, which spanned the final 26 minutes of the game.

Zavaglia, a freshman kicker/punter from Maryville, Illinois and Collinsville High School (Accounting major), connected on six-of-seven extra point attempts (with the unsuccessful attempt blocked) against Millikin on Saturday. He also converted two field goal attempts of 37 and 31 yards, punted five times for a 31.6-yard average and kicked off seven times for a 51.3-yard average.
