Stanke, Johnson named CCIW Men's Soccer Players of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s Charlie Stanke and Augustana’s Brett Johnson were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Soccer Players of the Week Tuesday.

Stanke, a senior midfielder from Downers Grove, Illinois and Downers Grove South High School (Economics/Finance major), had two goals and an assist as the Cardinals went 2-0-0 over the weekend. He had a goal and an assist in a 6-1 win over Albion on September 6. Stanke followed that up with the game-winning goal at 46:24 in a 2-1 win over Adrian on September 7. The win gave the Cardinals’ their third-straight Sal Vaccaro Tournament title.

Johnson, a junior goalkeeper from Beach Park, Illinois and Zion-Benton High School (Biology major), posted a 3-0 shutout against Grinnell on September 6. He recorded five saves while playing all 90 minutes in goal.

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was founded in 1946 and currently services eight member institutions including Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), Carthage College (Kenosha, WI), Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL), Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, IL), Millikin University (Decatur, IL), North Central College (Naperville, IL), North Park University (Chicago, IL) and Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL). During the 2012-13 academic year, the CCIW honored over 1,400 academic all-conference recipients, 15 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-Americans, 30 CoSIDA Academic All-District recipients, 68 all-Americans and one national championship team.
