Crain, Brooks named CCIW Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s John Crain and Millikin’s Justin Brooks were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week Tuesday.

Crain, a junior from Dunlap, Illinois and Dunlap High School (Sociology-Criminal Justice major), won the 5,000-meter run at the Leonard Squig Converse Invitational at Wisconsin-Whitewater on Friday. He clocked an indoor personal-best time of 14:24.22, which ranks him second on the national Division III list.

Brooks, a sophomore from Bloomington, Illinois and Bloomington High School (Physical Education major), won the triple jump at Illinois Wesleyan’s Bob Keck Invitational on Saturday. His winning jump of 45-1 ¾ (13.76 meters) currently ranks second in the CCIW and is 36th on the national list.

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was founded in 1946 and currently services eight member institutions including Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), Carthage College (Kenosha, WI), Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL), Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, IL), Millikin University (Decatur, IL), North Central College (Naperville, IL), North Park University (Chicago, IL) and Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL). During the 2011-12 academic year, the CCIW honored 1,323 academic all-conference recipients, 16 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 1 CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year, 89 all-Americans and three national championship teams.
