NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Rose-Hulman’s
Orion Martin was named the first College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Swimmer of the Week of the 2013-14 season on Tuesday.
Martin, a sophomore from Dublin, Ohio and Coffman High School (Physics, Computer Science and Mathematics major), finished in the top 10 in three events over the weekend, including first in the 100-yard freestyle (48.12) during a dual meet victory at Millikin on Friday. He was also fourth in the 100-yard butterfly (50.56) and 10th in the 50-yard freestyle (21.63) at Purdue University’s Indiana Intercollegiate Meet on Saturday. The meet included Purdue, Evansville, Valparaiso, Butler, University of Indianapolis, Wabash and DePauw. Martin’s fourth place finish in the 100 butterfly came behind three Purdue swimmers.

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was founded in 1946 and currently services eight member institutions including Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), Carthage College (Kenosha, WI), Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL), Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, IL), Millikin University (Decatur, IL), North Central College (Naperville, IL), North Park University (Chicago, IL) and Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL). During the 2012-13 academic year, the CCIW honored over 1,400 academic all-conference recipients, 15 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-Americans, 30 CoSIDA Academic All-District recipients, 68 all-Americans and one national championship team.
