Patton, Geraghty named CCIW Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Augustana’s Greg Patton and North Central’s Peter Geraghty were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week Tuesday.

Patton, a senior from Bloomington, Illinois and Bloomington High School (Accounting/Political Science major), won the 400-meter dash in 50.01 at the Olivet Nazarene Invitational on Saturday. His time is currently 12th nationally. Patton also led off the winning 4x400-meter relay (3:20.04), which is now ranked fourth in the nation. The Vikings tied for first in the team standings with 163 points.

Geraghty, a senior from Oak Park, Illinois and Oak Park-River Forest High School (Physical Education major), won the pole vault at Carthage’s Tadd Metzger Invitational on Saturday. He finished with a height of 17-0 ¼ (5.20 meters), which is ranked first in the nation by a foot. As a team, the Cardinals won the event with 262 points.

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was founded in 1946 and currently services eight member institutions including Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), Carthage College (Kenosha, WI), Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL), Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, IL), Millikin University (Decatur, IL), North Central College (Naperville, IL), North Park University (Chicago, IL) and Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL). During the 2011-12 academic year, the CCIW honored 1,323 academic all-conference recipients, 16 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 1 CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year, 89 all-Americans and three national championship teams.
