Vance, Benning named CCIW Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Wheaton’s Luke Vance and Augustana’s Brian Benning were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week Tuesday.

Vance, a junior from South Hamilton, Mass., and Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School (Interdisciplinary Studies), set a new school and facility record in the 800-meter run during North Central’s Cardinal Classic on Friday. He finished first with a time of 1:52.90, which is the fifth-fastest in NCAA Division III this season.

Benning, a senior from Winnebago, Ill., and Winnebago High School (History Education major), took first in the weight throw with a toss of 60-3 ¾ at the Dubuque Invitational on Saturday. Benning set a new school and facility record in the process and currently has the 12th-best mark in Division III this season.
