Elmhurst's McMahon named CCIW Women's Basketball Player of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Elmhurst’s Fiona McMahon was named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Basketball Player of the Week Monday.

McMahon, a sophomore forward from St. Charles, Illinois and St. Francis High School (Physical Education major), led the Bluejays to a 2-0 record last week as she averaged 17.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and shot 78 percent from the field. On Thursday, she scored a career-high 22 points, pulled down six rebounds and blocked three shots in just 16 minutes of play during a 90-47 win over Dominican. Two nights later, she followed that up with 13 points, nine rebounds and a 5-for-5 effort from the field in a 79-35 win over the Milwaukee School of Engineering. For the week, she finished 14-of-17 from the field.

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was founded in 1946 and currently services eight member institutions including Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), Carthage College (Kenosha, WI), Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL), Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, IL), Millikin University (Decatur, IL), North Central College (Naperville, IL), North Park University (Chicago, IL) and Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL). During the 2011-12 academic year, the CCIW honored 1,323 academic all-conference recipients, 16 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 1 CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year, 89 all-Americans and three national championship teams.
