NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Augustana’s Alex Rindone and North Central’s Zach Heerspink were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Track & Field Athletes of the Week Tuesday.
Rindone, a junior from Geneva, Ill., and Marmion Academy (Communications major), took first in two events during the Midwest Invitational at Monmouth (Ill.) on Saturday. He won the 60-meter dash (7:09) and set a new school, meet and facility record in the 300-meter dash with at time of 35.07. His old mark of 35.74 was set a year ago at the same meet.
Heerspink, a junior from Holland, Mich., and Hamilton High School (Undeclared major), won the high jump at the Cardinal Opener on Friday, finishing with a height of 6-5 (1.96 meters). He also finished second in the long jump with a distance of 22-2 ¼ (6.76 meters).
