NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s Tim Hird and John Wood were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week Tuesday. 

Hird, a senior from Rock Island, Ill., and Alleman High School (Sport Management major), anchored the Distance Medley Relay team to a first place finish with a time of 10:31.84 at the 13-team Private College Invitational at Carthage’s Tarble Athletic Center on Saturday. Hird ran the mile leg and finished with a time of 4:20.60. He also came back and won the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:44.06.

Wood, a senior from Palatine, Ill., and Fremd High School (Management major), cleared a career best of 17-0 ¾ to win the pole vault at the Private College Invitational. Wood’s mark is currently first in NCAA Division III.
