CCIW HIRES MIKE KRIZMAN TO BE SPORTS INFORMATION DIRECTOR/ASSISTANT COMMISSIONER
Mike Krizman has been hired to be the sports information director/assistant commissioner for the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin. Chris Martin, the commissioner of the CCIW, selected Krizman from a field of nearly 90 candidates. This will be the first time in the 59 year history of the conference that the CCIW has a full-time sports information director.
“Mike will be a great addition to the CCIW as our assistant commissioner and sports information director,” said Martin. “We expect big things from him. His personality, energy and knowledge of sports information will be great assets to the CCIW. I speak for the entire conference when I say that we all look forward to working with him.”
Krizman, 25, has spent the last two years working as a graduate assistant in the media relations department at Illinois State University. He has both a bachelor’s (2003) and master’s (2005) degree from ISU. His B.S. degree is in mass communication while his M.S. was conferred in sports management.
During his tenure as graduate assistant he served as the primary contact for the Redbirds’ track & field and cross country. He also was the assistant for the ISU football team. He had extensive experience with the college’s website and was a member of the stat crew for the Missouri Valley basketball tournament for two years. He served as the media contact for the 2004 Missouri Valley track & field championship.
He worked on the 2003 football game program that was judged “Best in the Nation” by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). He also contributed tot he 2003-04 men’s basketball game program that was judged one of the top three in the nation by CoSIDA.
“I think this is a great opportunity for me to be able to step in to a newly created position and help shape its direction,” said Krizman. “I look forward to working for a great conference like the CCIW and I am excited about living in the western suburbs of Chicago.”
As an undergraduate he was the sports editor of the Daily Vidette, the ISU student newspaper, where his responsibilities ranged from publication layout, assigning coverage, preparing features and covering football and men’s basketball.
He has an associate of arts degree from the College of Lake County in Grayslake, Illinois (2001) where he served as the sports editor of the College of Lake County Chronicle. Krizman has worked as a free lance sports writer for Lakeland Newspapers in Grayslake since 2001.
