Student-Athlete Advisory Council
CCIW Student-Athlete Advisory Council Constitution
- Name. CCIW Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC)
- Purpose The mission of the CCIW SAAC is to enhance the total student-athlete experience by taking an active role in the decision making process involving our well-being, supporting and understanding one another's needs and how that affects us as a conference and our unification, while maintaining the philosophies upheld by the CCIW and Division III Athletics.
- Membership. Two members will represent each school in the CCIW in the SAAC. These members will serve as a liaison between the conference and the school. The following conditions will apply in the nominating of representatives:
- The two members will be nominated by the school's SAAC.
- One female and one male representative must represent the school, unless unattainable.
- Members should be from different academic classes, in order to promote continuity. To be nominated, the member must have completed at least one season of his/her sport and have at least one year of eligibility remaining.
- Members will serve until graduation, or until they choose to step down from their position.
- Members must be actively involved in his/her sport, have successfully completed his sport, or eligible for his/her sport if the event occurs in a following athletic season.
- Members must have at least a 2.0 GPA, maintaining athletic eligibility.
- Officers. The offices of President, Vice-President(s), and Secretary will be elected by majority vote at the April (or spring) meeting.
- Meetings. Meetings will be held at least three times during the school year. The meetings will be held in November, January, and April, tentatively. The first official meeting of the year will be held in November. The council should attempt to have the meeting during those months. Meeting dates will be set at the preceding meeting; other meeting dates may be set with the consultation of the members. The following are conditions for meeting attendance:
- Members are encouraged to attend all meetings, if possible. If you are unable to attend, you must notify the CCIW Commissioner or the President of the SAAC.
- A member will be asked to step-down from the CCIW SAAC, if one unexcused absence occurs.
- Each school has the option of sending a SAAC advisor or Athletic Director.
- At each meeting, each school should send at least one of the following: the student representative, the SAAC advisor, or the Athletic Director.
- The April meeting will be considered a transition meeting. The present members and the incoming members will attend.
- Amendments. Amendments to the Constitution must be voted on by a majority of the SAAC.
- Minutes. Minutes from the meeting will be taken by the secretary. The minutes will be sent to each of the members and will be approved at the following meeting.
- Member Duties. Each member will be expected to participate in meetings, service projects, as well as any other project voted on by the majority at the meeting.
- Non-Discrimination Statement. The NCAA, the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin and the Student-Athlete Advisory Council do not discriminate on the basis of age, gender or race. The SAAC promotes diversity and the inclusion of various ideas, people and identities.
