CCIW SAAC Set to Take Part in Shoe Drive Project

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) at each of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) schools will take part in a shoe drive donation starting December 3, 2007, and ending on January 28, 2008.

Each CCIW member institution will compete against one another in the collection of shoes from students, staff and faculty on campus and then donate them to a charity of their choice. The school with the most pairs of shoes donated at the end of the two-month project wins the eight school competition. The winning school will be announced at the CCIW’s inaugural Student-Athlete Workshop to be held Feb. 1-2, 2008 in Lake Geneva, Wis.

“We’re certainly very excited about conducting this service project,” CCIW assistant commissioner Mike Krizman said. “Each (SAAC) group does a great job already in their various service projects, now we will work together as a conference in giving back to the community.”

The winning school will receive prize money to its SAAC organization, as well as a trophy featuring a gold-plated shoe.
