Simmons, Dalton Earn CCIW Volleyball Player of the Week Honors

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin named Jori Simmons of Carthage and Jeanna Dalton of Augustana Volleyball Players of the Week Tuesday after their performances over the past week of competition.

Simmons, a sophomore from Frankfort, Ill., had 39 kills and hit .492 in five matches last week. She had 16 kills and hit .500 in the Lady Reds’ 3-0 win over Elmhurst College on Oct. 15 that clinched Carthage’s first outright conference title since 1993. She had 10 kills and hit .600 in a 3-0 win over Marian College (Wis.) on Oct. 21 at the Carthage Erin Calteux Memorial Tournament. She was named to the all-tournament team.

In five matches last week, Dalton, a senior from Dixon, Ill., played in 20 games and totaled 149 digs, an average of 7.45 digs per game. She had three assists, three service aces and one kill. On “Senior Night” (she is the lone senior on the team) against North Central she recorded a career high 44 digs, the fourth highest single match total in school history. She also added two service aces as the Vikings won 3-1 over the Cardinals.
