CCIW Names Simmons, Crumley Volleyball Players of the Week
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin named Jori Simmons of Carthage and Katie Crumley of Millikin Volleyball Players of the Week Tuesday after their performances over the past week.
Simmons, a sophomore from Frankfort, Ill., hit .500 (27 kills, 4 errors, 46 attempts in four matches) as the Lady Reds went 4-0 to win the Sept. 16-17 Ripon College Tournament. Simmons hit .769 (10-0-13) against Cardinal Stritch University on Sept. 17 and set a Carthage individual match record, connecting on 10 of her 14 attempts.
Crumley, a senior from Jacksonville, Ill., helped Millikin improve to 9-4, 1-0 in conference play with a 4-1 record last week. Named the Most Outstanding Libero of the DePauw Tournament, Crumley led Millikin with 137 digs, including 39 against Heidelberg. She posted 23-plus digs in each match.
