CCIW Names May, Johnson Volleyball Players of the Week
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin named Molly May of Illinois Wesleyan and Lindsay Johnson of Elmhurst Volleyball Players of the Week Tuesday after their performances over the past week.
May, a senior middle hitter from Mt. Prospect, Ill., had 3.56 kills and .94 blocks per game as the Titans were 3-2 last week. May had 14 kills and 6 blocks in a three-set win over 20th ranked Wisconsin-River Falls in the IWU Fall Classic on Friday. She had 12 kills each against Millikin and Eureka and finished the week with a .369 hitting percentage.
Johnson, a senior setter from Rockford, Ill., was named to her second consecutive all-tournament team after helping guide the Bluejays to a 3-1 record at the UW-Platteville Tournament. For the tournament, Johnson totaled 135 assists (10.38 per game) and 26 kills (2.00 per game), while hitting .447. In the Bluejays’ win over 14th-ranked UW-LaCrosse, Johnson totaled five kills and 48 assists. In Elmhurst’s 3-0 win over Ripon, she led the team in both kills (10) and assists (29). The team’s only loss came at the hands of 16th ranked UW-Platteville.
