Thorsell, Crumley Earn CCIW Volleyball Player of the Week Honors

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Tiffany Thorsell of Carthage and Katie Crumley of Millikin were named College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Volleyball Players of the Week Tuesday after their performances during the opening weekend of the CCIW volleyball season.

Thorsell, a junior middle blocker from Oakdale, Minn., hit .459 (39 kills, 5 errors, 74 attempts), as the No. 37 Lady Reds went 4-0 to win the Sept. 2-3 Elmhurst College Invitational Tournament. Thorsell hit .682 (15-0-22) in the Lady Reds’ 3-1 win over Simpson College in the championship match.

Crumley, a senior libero from Jacksonville, Ill., took home Illinois College Tournament MVP honors over the weekend, tallying 80 digs in four games. She recorded 20-plus digs in three of the four contests, including 23 digs against No. 13 Central and a season-high 25 vs. Maryville. Millikin finished the tournament at 2-2.
