Three CCIW Teams Clinch Spot in NCAA Volleyball Tournament
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Elmhurst, Carthage and Millikin found out Sunday night that its seasons will be extended after the NCAA released its pairings for the 60-team 2005 Volleyball Tournament.
Elmhurst (31-9) had already earned a spot with a win over Carthage in the championship game of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Tournament last Saturday, giving the Bluejays the automatic qualifying bid. They will face the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (33-4) at 1 p.m. on Nov. 10 in Oshkosh, Wis.
Carthage and Millikin each earned at-large bids after going 30-6 and 28-9 during the regular season. The Lady Reds will also be traveling to Oshkosh on Nov. 10 to face UW-Oshkosh (35-4) at 8:30 p.m., while Millikin faces Capital (32-4) at 6 p.m. at Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio.
Only the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference had more teams (four) earn a spot in the tournament, while the University Athletic Association tied the CCIW with three teams.
