Illinois Wesleyan Sweeps CCIW Volleyball Player of the Week Honors

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Illinois Wesleyan’s Michelle Malinowski and Stacy Hassinger were named College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Volleyball Players of the Week Tuesday.

Malinowski, a senior outside hitter from Shorewood, Ill., and Providence Catholic High School, had 3.35 kills per game with a .278 hitting percentage and 2.60 digs per set in five matches last week as the Titans went 4-1. She had 18 kills and a .342 hitting percentage in a five-set win at Wheaton on September 23, as well as 12 kills and a .500 hitting percentage in a four-set win over Wisconsin-Platteville. She also had 16 kills in a five-set win over Loras as Illinois Wesleyan won three of four at the Wisconsin-Platteville tournament.

Hassinger, a freshman setter from Noblesville, Ind., and Westfield High School, averaged 9.7 assists and 2.25 digs per set during Illinois Wesleyan’s 4-1 week. Hassinger had 53 assists in the win at Wheaton, and 46 against Loras at the Wisconsin-Platteville tournament. For the week she also tallied 15 kills with a .151 hitting percentage.
