Kuehl, Reed Named CCIW Volleyball Players of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Ashley Kuehl of Carthage and Ashley Reed of Illinois Wesleyan were named volleyball players of the week in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Tuesday after their performances during the previous week of competition.

Kuehl, a senior outside hitter from McFarland, Wis., and McFarland High School, was named to the Oct. 12-13 Wisconsin-Oshkosh all-tournament team as the Lady Reds finished third with a 3-1 record. Kuehl averaged 4.33 kills per game, including 21 in a 3-1 loss to No. 1-ranked Juniata College on Oct. 13. Kuehl also tallied 18 kills in a 3-2 win over No. 19-ranked Wisconsin-La Crosse on Oct. 12, and followed that up with another 18 kills in a 3-0 win over No. 3-ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater later that night.

Reed, a senior libero from Lemont, Ill., and Lemont High School, was named to the all-tournament team of the Wartburg Invitational as she averaged 5.7 digs per game (17 games) in helping Illinois Wesleyan to the title of the eight-team event. Reed had 31 digs in a four-game win for the championship over Nebraska Wesleyan and had 28 digs and two aces in five games against Bethel. She also had 18 digs and two aces against Wisconsin-River Falls, and 20 digs and three aces vs. Simpson. Earlier in the week, Reed had 19 digs and five service aces in a four-game CCIW win at Millikin.
