Kelly, Bauer Named CCIW Volleyball Players of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Maggie Kelly of North Central and Kelly Bauer of Carthage were named volleyball players of the week in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Tuesday after their performances during the previous week of competition.

Kelly, a senior outside hitter from Riverside, Ill., and Fenwick High School, averaged 6.29 kills per game for the Cardinals last week. Kelly had a total of 88 kills in five games and had an attack percentage of .332. She also added 25 digs and seven blocks on the week. She posted a season-high 28 kills against Augustana, and had 20-plus kills in wins over Cornell (Iowa) and Lakeland (Wis.) en route to all-tournament honors at the Wheaton College (Ill.) Invitational.

Bauer, a senior setter from Brookfield, Wis., and Central High School, was named to the Wheaton College (Ill.) Invitational all-tournament team with a .483 attack percentage over four matches, 30 kills, a 2.31 kills-per-game average, 5.54 assists per game and six service aces. Bauer hit .400 with 11 kills in the Lady Reds’ 3-1 victory over Lakeland College on Sept. 21 and hit .500 with nine kills in a 3-0 decision over Cornell College on Sept. 22.
