Chafeh, Spolum Named CCIW Volleyball Players of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Yaifeh Chafeh of North Park and Jaime Spolum of Augustana were named volleyball players of the week in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Tuesday after their performances during the previous week of competition.

Chafeh, a junior outside hitter from Fontana, Calif., accumulated 106 kills with 274 attempts and a .387 hitting percentage in just five matches last week. She also totaled 85 digs and 11 aces and has led the Vikings in kill percentage in every match thus far. Chafeh was also unanimously voted to the all-tournament team this weekend at the North Park Invite. Chafeh had a team-high 28 kills on 52 attempts against Knox College for a .442 hitting percentage.

Spolum, a junior setter from St. Charles, Ill., and St. Charles North High School, piled up 121 assists (12.10 per game average) in three matches last week as the Vikings went 3-0. In Augustana’s 3-1 victory over St. Ambrose on Tuesday, Sept. 12, she had 47 assists, seven digs and five kills. She had 44 assists, five kills and 12 digs in a 3-0 win over Cornell on Saturday, Sept. 15, and finished the week with a 30 assist, two kill and eight dig performance in a 3-0 win over Monmouth (Ill.) on Saturday, Sept. 15. She also moved into third place on the school’s career assist list with 2,587.
