Serritella, Bonamer Earn Volleyball Player of the Week Honors

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Melissa Serritella of Illinois Wesleyan and Katie Bonamer of North Central were named volleyball players of the week in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Tuesday.

Serritella, a senior from St. Charles, Ill., averaged 3.28 kills and 1.06 blocks in 18 games and had a .276 hitting percentage as she helped Illinois Wesleyan win four of five matches last week. Serritella had 16 kills and a .346 attack percentage in a four-game CCIW win at Augustana on Oct. 17. She also had two blocks. The Titans won three of four at the Emory National Invitational Tournament last weekend, losing only to 14th-ranked Emory. Serritella had 19 kills and six blocks with a .333 attack percentage against Muskingum, and also had 10 kills, six blocks and a .360 hitting mark against Ripon.

Bonamer, a senior from Western Spring, Ill., totaled 88 digs (4.63 per game) and six aces to help North Central post a 5-0 record on the week including a CCIW victory over Millikin University and a 4-0 record and title at the Tiffany Robinson Memorial Tournament. Bonamer, a defensive specialist and libero, won all-tournament honors at the Tiffany Robinson Tournament and had 26 digs in an upset win over 24th-ranked Coe College (Iowa) and a season-high 30 digs in a win over Carroll College (Wis.).
