McMillen, Bauer Earn Volleyball Player of the Week Honors
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Jenny McMillen of Millikin and Kelly Bauer of Carthage were named volleyball players of the week in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Tuesday.
McMillen, a sophomore from Pana, Ill., helped the Big Blue to a 3-0 start to the CCIW season last week with wins over North Park (3-0), Wheaton (3-2) and Augustana (3-2). Coming up with the big plays when they were needed, McMillen tied for a team-high 34 kills (2.83 per game was team best) and seven blocks (3rd on team). She also added seven digs and one assist at right side hitter. Against Augustana she had 13 kills and three blocks. Against Wheaton she had 12 kills and four blocks. Against North Park she had nine kills and two blocks.
Bauer, a junior from Brookfield, Wis., averaged 10.73 assists per game as the No. 24 Lady Reds went 3-1 at the Sept. 15-16 Wisconsin-Oshkosh Pizza Hut Classic. Bauer had 37 assists in a 3-0 win over Marian (Wis.) on
Sept. 15.
