Sullivan, Bauer Earn Volleyball Player of the Week Honors
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Mallory Sullivan of Wheaton and Kelly Bauer of Carthage were named volleyball players of the week in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Tuesday.
Sullivan, a sophomore outside hitter from Belleville, Ill., had a strong week in leading Wheaton to a 5-0 record last week. Sullivan and the Thunder posted a 4-0 record at Aurora University’s “Jim Coleman Tournament” over the weekend, as Sullivan earned All-Tournament honors. She averaged 4.28 kills per game in Wheaton’s five matches last week, with a .311 kill percentage. She also averaged 6.44 kills per game. In a 3-2 victory against Aurora on Friday, Sullivan collected 21 kills, with 34 digs and four service aces. Sullivan blasted 19 kills, with a .412 kill percentage, with four total blocks and 30 digs in a 3-1 Thunder win against St. Norbert on Saturday. She tallied 14 kills with a .333 kill percentage in 3-0 victory against Ripon on Friday and added 13 kills in a 3-0 win at home against Lake Forest on Tuesday night.
Bauer, a junior from Brookfield, Wis., averaged 11.47 assists per game last week, as the Lady Reds went 5-0, including a 4-0 mark to share the championship of the Sept. 8-9 Illinois Wesleyan “Fall Classic.” Bauer set a Carthage match record with 48 assists in a 3-0 win over Illinois College on Sept. 8 at the IWU tournament.
